The Golden Circle South Coast private tour allows you to experience the two of Iceland’s most popular day tours in a private vehicle with your own driver-guide. The tour starts with a pickup at your accommodation in the greater metropolitan area of Reykjavik. From there we journey on to the Golden Circle visiting Thingvellir national park, Gullfoss waterfall and Geysir geothermal area before continuing on to the southern coastline which is renowned for various nature attractions and interesting exhibits.

Your day starts with pickup at your accommodation or other location of your choice. First a brief introduction with your driver guide who learns about your preference and assists you making the choice between the museum and attractions if any. You will be exploring the Golden Circle & South Coast by car and by foot at select stops.
During the tour your guide will tell you stories and facts about Iceland’s culture, history and way of life throughout the centuries since the viking settlement in 874.
You will be driving through the beautiful countryside of Iceland while en route to some of Iceland’s most stunning sights. Visit Thingvellir national park, home to the foundation site of the oldest parliament in the world, Althingi. Visit Gullfoss waterfall and Geysir geothermal area. Visit Seljalandsfoss waterfall and even walk in behind the waterfall. See the towering Skogafoss waterfall, 60 meters (197 ft.) high and 25 meters (82 ft) wide. Experience the roaring waves of the Atlantic at Reynisfjara beach and try and spot puffins at Cape Dyrholaey. All this as well as interesting museums and exhibits along the way.
Þingvellir national park is home to history and geological wonders. It’s a site where the North-American and Eurasian tectonic plates are pulling apart. At Thingvellir you can visit the world’s oldest parliament site, Alþingi, which was founded in the year 930 AD. Þingvellir has been on the UNESCO World Heritage list ever since.
Gullfoss waterfall tumbles and plunges into a crevice some 32 meter (105 ft.) deep. The waterfall derives from the river Hvítá and offers exceptional scenery and views showing the true beauty of Iceland’s nature.
The Geysir geothermal area is home to the geyser Strokkur which shoots a column of water up to 30 meters (98 ft.) into the air every 4-8 minutes in a thrilling display of nature’s forces.
Fridheimar greenhouse grow delicious tomatoes year round using artificial lighting in their greenhouses. Visitors are welcomed to see these greenhouses first hand and even enjoy a taste of the crops. Fridheimar also breed icelandic horses and offer you a chance to see and pet these magnificent creatures.
Kerid crater is a volcanic crater lake located in the Grímsnes area in the southern part of Iceland. Kerið crater is approximately 3,000 years old which is roughly half the age of most volcanic calderas in Iceland. It is possible to take a path right up to the lake and walk around it to take in the true beauty of this crystal clear lake.
Seljalandsfoss waterfall faces the traffic heading along the Ring road of Iceland and is one of Iceland’s most picturesque waterfalls. It’s narrow and falls off a cliff above a cavern. It’s quite easy to walk up to the base of the waterfall and behind it along a pathway inside the cavern.
Skogafoss waterfall is one of Iceland’s mightiest and biggest waterfalls towering 60 meters high (197 ft.) and 25 meters (82 ft.) wide. By the waterfall you can visit Skogar folk museum to get a better insight into the life of Icelanders throughout history in the southern region.
Cape Dyrholaey gives you astonishing view of the big glacier Mýrdalsjökull, the black sand beaches, the splashing waves of the Atlantic and the black lava columns, Reynisdrangar. This attraction is also known for it’s puffin colony.
Reynisfjara is better known as the Black sand beach. There you will find a scenic basalt columnar wall stretching into the beach with splashing waves from the Atlantic.
We offer an optional stops at the Lava Centre in Hvolsvöllur and the Icelandic Lava show in Vík. The Lava centre is an interactive and high-tech educational exhibition depicting volcanic activity, earthquakes and the creation of Iceland over millions of years. The Icelandic Lava show recreates a volcanic eruption, similar to what Eyjafjallajökull and Katla volcano are famous for, by pouring molten lava into a room full of people. We can’t forget to mention Skogar museum located just next to Skogafoss waterfall which is a cultural heritage collection of over 18,000 regional artifacts.
