Your day starts with pickup at your accommodation or other location of your choice. First a brief introduction with your driver guide who learns about your preference and assists you making the choice between the museum and attractions if any. You will be exploring the south coast by car and by foot at select stops.
During the tour your guide will tell you stories and facts about Iceland’s culture, history and way of life throughout the centuries since the viking settlement in 874.
You will be driving through the beautiful countryside of Iceland while en route to some of Iceland’s most stunning sights. Visit Seljalandsfoss waterfall and even walk in behind the waterfall. Visit the towering Skogafoss waterfall, 60 meters (197 ft.) high and 25 meters (82 ft) wide. Experience the roaring waves of the Atlantic at Reynisfjara beach and try and spot puffins at Cape Dyrholaey. All this as well as interesting museums and exhibits along the way.
Seljalandsfoss waterfall faces the traffic heading along the Ring road of Iceland and is one of Iceland’s most picturesque waterfalls. It’s narrow and falls off a cliff above a cavern. It’s quite easy to walk up to the base of the waterfall and behind it along a pathway inside the cavern.
Skogafoss waterfall is one of Iceland’s mightiest and biggest waterfalls towering 60 meters high (197 ft.) and 25 meters (82 ft.) wide. By the waterfall you can visit Skogar folk museum to get a better insight into the life of Icelanders throughout history in the southern region.
Cape Dyrholaey gives you astonishing view of the big glacier Mýrdalsjökull, the black sand beaches, the splashing waves of the Atlantic and the black lava columns, Reynisdrangar. This attraction is also known for it’s puffin colony.
Reynisfjara is better known as the Black sand beach. There you will find a scenic basalt columnar wall stretching into the beach with splashing waves from the Atlantic.
We offer an optional stops at the Lava Centre in Hvolsvöllur and the Icelandic Lava show in Vík. The Lava centre is an interactive and high-tech educational exhibition depicting volcanic activity, earthquakes and the creation of Iceland over millions of years. The Icelandic Lava show recreates a volcanic eruption, similar to what Eyjafjallajökull and Katla volcano are famous for, by pouring molten lava into a room full of people. We can’t forget to mention Skogar museum located just next to Skogafoss waterfall which is a cultural heritage collection of over 18,000 regional artifacts.
